Good Driver- To be eligible, all drivers of your private passenger vehicle must have been licensed to drive for 3 years and during the years have not had

  • a major conviction or
  • an at fault accident resulting in bodily injury or death or
  • an at fault accident involving property damage only which resulted in a 1 point minor conviction or
  • more than 1 minor conviction 

In addition, during the past 7 years all drivers must not have been convicted for driving under the influence

Good Student - This discount if offered to single drivers with less than 8 years of driving experience who are attending a public or parochial school or college on a full time basis and maintained a "B" or better grade point average in the previous semester.  College or school means an academic institution and does not include trade or vocational schools.

Group Discounts - This discount may apply if an insured is a member of one of the following professional groups listed below:

  • Engineer - must have a Bachelor's degree or be licensed as an engineer in the field of Aeronautical, Aerospace, Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Gas, Mechanical, Nuclear, Petroleum or Structural engineering.
  • Scientist - must have a Bachelor's degree in Astronomy, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Cybernetics, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Physics, Planetary Systems, Computer Science, Biology, or Information Systems
  • Educators - must be credentialed as a teacher or educational administrator by the State of California Commission, or be employed full-time as a college or university teacher or professor
  • California Medical Association - must be a member of the California Medical Association
  • Los Angeles County Bar Association - must be a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association

Multiple Automobiles - This Discount applies to policyholders who insure more than one vehicle on a policy.  The vehicle must be garaged at the same address and must be registered to and driven principally by the named insured or other resident and their children

Multiple Policies - An additional credit is available to policy holders who have both their auto (private passenger or commercial) and homeowner, condo or renters insurance

Mature Driver - this discount applies to drivers age 55 and older who have received a driver improvement course certificate from a certified DMV school and who have not had any traffic convictions or at fault accidents since completing the driver improvement course

Anti-Theft Devices:  Mercury will waive the comprehensive deductible up to $1000 if you equip your vehicle with an anti-theft tracking device and the vehicle is either stolen and recovered or recovered with damage

  • 1.  Vehicles which include a qualifying factory anti-theft system as a standard equipment will have the discount automatically applied
